Belle Vue have revealed their completed 2019 National League side after announcing all seven riders at the club’s Christmas Cracker event at the National Speedway Stadium last night (December 13).
Supporter favourites Kyle Bickley and Paul Bowen are joined by fellow returning Colt, Ben Woodhull, each of whom has been given the nod by team bosses after a thoroughly impressive 2018 season.
Several new faces are also Manchester-bound for 2019, with flying former Birmingham star Leon Flint spearheading the side at No.1 and ex-Coventry man Danny Phillips joining the top five.
And there are two eager newcomers at reserve making their full National League debut in Belle Vue colours, with Ben Rathbone and Jordan Palin completing the new-look team at No.6 and No.7.
Team boss Steve Williams said: “As a club, we pride ourselves on our commitment to youth development and with this team we have a lot of young riders with some amazing potential.
“Leon, Kyle and Danny are three highly-rated individuals who will make up our top three, and we’ll be looking to them to lead from the front and step up their game throughout the course of the year.
“We hope to see similar things from Ben Woodhull, who made huge strides last season, and with Paul we’ve only seen a glimpse of what he is capable of. We want to further draw out his abilities.
“The two reserves are eager to learn and have demonstrated plenty of promise. We’ve kept an eye on their progress over the years and felt the time was right to bring them into the National League.
“We like to remain loyal to everyone who rides for us but the way the rules have panned out for next season meant changes were inevitable and we wish our out-going riders all the very best.”
With the teams now complete supporters can look forward to plenty more Belle Vue news in the new year, including updates on the club’s flagship event: The Peter Craven Memorial.
