Belle Vue Team Up with Wroclaw

The new season is just around the corner, but already Belle Vue are making moves on the international scene after partnering up with Polish Ekstraliga side Betard Sparta Wrocław.

The signing of Damian Dróżdż by the Aces opened the door to discussions of a partnership between the two clubs, which has also seen Max Fricke make the move to Wrocław in 2018.

Belle Vue supremo Mark Lemon is hopeful this latest move by the Mancunian club will afford greater opportunities to riders from both the Aces and Colts to gain international experience.

He said: “It wasn’t a hard-and-fast rule that we include a Polish rider in our team-building plans but it was something we did discuss at length as a means to further internationalise the club.

“Poland have set the bar as the greatest Speedway nation in the world. It’s plain to see that their business model is very effective and it’s something that could well be of benefit in Britain.

“When Damian came on the radar, it brought about the circumstances to see Belle Vue partner with Wrocław which is seen as a great opportunity for both our clubs.

“We’re also interested in their junior team, just as they are in the Colts and we hope this mutual interest will generate opportunities for the youngsters that otherwise may not be possible.”

Lemon has also further emphasised the club’s commitment to investing in its future by way of expanding their asset base, with Dróżdż becoming a full asset of Belle Vue upon his signing. He continued:

“It’s an exciting time for both clubs and I think Wroclaw have very similar values to ourselves in terms of nurturing and developing their home-grown riders around the world.

I personally have a very good relationship with the team manager over there. We raced against each other back in our day so there is a lot of trust supporting the foundation of this partnership.

And on the home front, Damian will become an asset of Belle Vue which is another example of how we’re committed to investing in the club’s future; not just financially but with our asset base.”
