Colts Launch KOC Campaign

Belle Vue launch their National League Knock Out Cup campaign against Buxton this Friday, April 20 at the National Speedway Stadium with the return leg just 48 hours later at the High Edge Raceway.

Their most recent tussle with the Isle of Wight earned them a consolation point to keep them atop the league table and has further bolstered the confidence of the reigning league champions.

In 2017, they just missed out on adding the coveted KOC to their trophy cabinet, and are targeting an improvement on last year’s sterling efforts to put their name to a brand-new piece of silverware.

The home team welcome back club No.1 Tom Perry but will be without the skipper Jack Smith, who is in action with Championship side Sheffield at Scunthorpe. Ben Hopwood steps in to guest at No.5.

Team boss Steve Williams said: “The Knock Out Cup is a two-legged affair and we will be treating it as such. The lads know what we expect of them without us having to be explicit on the subject.

“They want every meeting they have to be successful and we stick together as a team in any match situation. On paper, we’re quite evenly matched against Buxton so it will be a competitive weekend.

“Jack will certainly be a miss for us on Friday. Ben is more than capable of filling his shoes around our track which is just what we need to accumulate as many points as possible in the home leg.”

The Cool Running Colts are at home to Buxton in the NL KOC on April 20 before heading to High Edge on April 22, while the Rentruck Aces are back at the NSS against Rye House on April 23.

Tickets for both Belle Vue home fixtures are now on sale and at the stadium box office on race night.
