Unite and Conquer

Belle Vue journey to Somerset’s Oaktree Arena on May 25 with intent to strengthen their top-four position by taking as many points as they can squeeze out of their battle with the Cases Rebels.

Despite losing to King’s Lynn with a patched-up side on Monday, the Rentruck Aces maintain third spot in the Premiership table and will track an almost-full strength team come Wednesday.

It’s a poignant night for the club’s pocket rocket Rohan Tungate, who makes his first appearance at the Highbridge circuit since being released by the Cases Rebels in the summer of 2017.

Broken leg victim Steve Worrall remains side-lined for the time being but is undergoing near-daily physiotherapy in his battle to get back to fitness. The club will therefore operate R/R at No.2.

Somerset meanwhile have bolstered their reserve positions with guests Todd Kurtz and James Shanes, after regulars Jonas Jeppesen and Bradley Wilson-Dean were ruled out due to injury.

But with current world champion Jason Doyle at the helm, Dan Bewley insists there will be no complacency from his side ahead of this match, stating: “We anticipate a challenge, that’s for sure.

“I don’t think the table positions are doing some teams the justice they deserve because, although Somerset are tied at the bottom, they’ve been far from shameful in their performance so far.

“Any team at home is a threat, especially one with the world champion as their captain. Monday was just an unfortunate set of circumstances for us and Wednesday is our chance to prove it.

“We’ve got Max [Fricke] and Craig [Cook] back with us and we’ve already shown that, between the six of us, we can cover rider replacement without too much drama so I think it’ll be a good night.”

The Cool Running Colts are back in National League action at the NSS on Friday May 25, while the Rentruck Aces return home on Bank Holiday Monday, May 28 against the Leicester Lions.

Tickets for both home meetings are now available at www.bellevueaces.co and at the stadium box office on race night.
