Clash of the Titans

There’s a sense of déjà vu enveloping the Belle Vue Colts’ May 25 clash with Eastbourne when the two sides meet in Manchester for the first time since the 2017 National League Grand Final.

The Cool Running Colts have started as they mean to go on, establishing their NSS home as a fortress and are keen to keep up their incredible, unblemished record against the Arlington men.

Following his exemplary start to the season, Ben Woodhull moves into the main body of the team and into the No.2 spot for this fixture where he is hoping to continue his impressive run of form.

Popular No.6 Paul Bowen remains side-lined due to injury, with unattached rider Ben Rathbone set to cover his duties at reserve for the evening while the remainder of the team is as per usual.

On the prospect of facing the closest contenders to their league dominance, Woodhull said: “There’s no added pressure on us to ensure we stay top. After all, it’s all about the top four.

“We’re in an excellent position points-wise and we’ve got the drive to maintain our unbeaten home record but I’m certain the Eastbourne boys will be determined to make our job a tough one.

“It’s a shame for us to be without Paul, but I’m sure Ben [Rathbone] will do everything he can to make an impression and the rest of us will certainly pull together to produce the result we want.”

The Belle Vue ‘Rentruck’ Aces meanwhile prepare to face Leicester in a Bank Holiday blockbuster both at home and away, and they start their May 28 endeavours at the NSS from 12:00pm.

Tickets for both home fixtures are now available at and at the stadium box office on race night.
