Blitzed The Competition

The Belle Vue Colts continued their sizzling, trailblazing form at Stoke on Saturday night with an emphatic 37-50 victory over the Potters and extended their lead at the top of the league table.

Despite declaring a full team, the Potters unexpectedly found themselves without Paul Burnett, who became stranded in traffic on the M62 which was earlier closed due to a vehicle fire.

Tom Perry put his wealth of away track experience to good use for the Cool Running Colts, top scoring with 14 while Joe Lawlor added solid support with 12 and Danny Phillips added 8+2.

Team boss Steve Williams said: “We’re thoroughly impressed with the boys tonight. Conditions were a little tricky and there were a few fallers but our guys were sensible and rode brilliantly.

“We got things off to a more-than satisfactory start. From the outset we were strong and took an early lead. We had to make sure that, if we weren’t getting the heat wins, we were drawing races.

“It was tough for Stoke losing Paul Burnett at the eleventh hour but we had to take advantage of their misfortunes as they did ours, but in the end our lads dug deep and pulled off a great win.”

The Rentruck Aces welcome back reigning Premiership Champions Swindon to the National Speedway Stadium on Monday, May 14 in their first league clash of the 2018 season.

But before that, they commence the defence of their Knock Out Cup title against the Wolverhampton Wolves at home on Monday, May 7 at 12:00pm.

Tickets are available online now at and at the stadium box office on race night.
