Belle Vue bosses have snapped up in-form Jason Garrity on a temporary 28-day contract in place of the injured Steve Worrall and will make his Aces debut at Wolverhampton on June 18.
Worrall made a shock return to action in the 2018 Sports Insure British Final on Monday, just nine weeks after breaking his leg in two places, following an horrific smash at Scunthorpe back in April.
But the meeting took its toll on the 26-year old, who was withdrawn on medical grounds after three rides and looks set to remain benched for a further period while he continues his recovery.
Garrity, from Droylsden, Manchester, put in an immensely impressive performance in the British Final and was only just pipped to a podium finish by the outgoing 2017 champion Craig Cook.
Surprisingly, the 24-year old has found himself without a permanent spot in the Premiership so far this season and Rentruck Aces boss Mark Lemon is delighted to have secured his services.
He said: “Jason’s quite a character, and certainly box office material. His form of late has been spot on and his performance in the British Final was hard to ignore, and we felt he deserved a chance.
“You have to admire Steve’s commitment and determination to get back on the bike, but it was a difficult meeting. Thankfully it hasn’t caused him any setbacks, but he does need a little more time.
“It’ll be a new challenge for us and for Jason, but we’ve worked together before. His last guest booking for Belle Vue didn’t quite go to plan, but he’s bounced back firing even better than before.
“This will be a great opportunity for him to put himself out there because he isn’t a full-time Premiership rider. We’re confident he’ll do a great job and we’re delighted to have him in the team.”
The Belle Vue Aces are on the road next week with visits to Wolverhampton and Rye House before the Belle Vue Colts face the Birmingham Brummies at home on Friday June 22.
The Rentruck Aces then take on Poole at home on Monday June 25. Tickets for both home meetings are available at www.bellevueaces.co and at the stadium box office on race night.
