Repaying The Compliment

The Belle Vue Colts are taking nothing for granted when Birmingham descend on the National Speedway Stadium this Friday, June 20, and are tipping this as once of their closest fixtures.

The reigning National League Champions have so far dominated all who turn up on their door step and have remarkably remained undefeated in Manchester for the last 18 months to date.

But while preserving that record remains a subconscious target for the league leaders, their focus remains completely on ensuring no wayward points, under any circumstance, elude them at home.

And with no clashes in the Championship, they have their full power at their disposal to maintain their winning ways, something which team boss Graham Goodwin insists is vital at home.

He said: “Dropping points is never ideal because it’s at this stage of the season when every point is vital. We missed out at Birmingham and so we need to ensure we repay the compliment.

“We fully expect a tough night on Friday. The Brummies have some good momentum behind them, but we have an impressive record at home and the advantage of knowing our track very well.

“They have powerful heat leaders and Leon Flint at reserve will no doubt be their secret weapon. It’s a crucial fixture and will no doubt put us to the test, but we have every faith in our lads to deliver.”

There’s another big fixture brewing on the horizon as the Rentruck Aces prepare to face the Poole Pirates this Monday, June 25, for the second time this season at the National Speedway Stadium.

Tickets for both home meetings are now available online at and at the stadium box office on race night.
