Rapid Response Required

The Belle Vue Colts are determined to deliver maximum points against Buxton in their local derby at the National Speedway Stadium on Friday, August 24 as they continue to push for the play offs.

The reigning league champions currently sit fourth in the National League table but are not as comfortable as they’d like to be, with several teams now queuing up for a shot at the top four.

And following a disappointing afternoon at Mildenhall last Sunday, the Cool Running Colts are on the hunt for redemption and a win over the Hitmen would consolidate their position for the time being.

The home team are at full-strength for this clash while the visitors, who track the highly-impressive Ben Wilson as their No.1 rider, are without their No.5 James Cockle for whom R/R will be in effect.

Team boss Steve Williams said: “Our current position comes as no surprise to us. We’ve always said that, because of the number of National Trophy fixture early season, our position was misleading.

“This meeting, then, is very important for us. Every team is starting to catch up to us and so we need to be taking points wherever possible to give ourselves the best chance of getting into the play offs.

“Buxton are quite capable of being spoilers on their day. We know what the likes of Ben Wilson and Tom Woolley are capable of, especially around our track so we won’t be taking anything for granted.

“The lads want a strong reaction after the Mildenhall fixture. They’re feeling the disappointment and are more than motivated to put things right and get back to winning ways at home on Friday.”

Following the main meeting, there will be a Midland Development League clash between Belle Vue and Carmarthen with Kean Dicken and former Colts National League rider David Holt featuring.

It’s a big Bank Holiday double-header for the Rentruck Aces against Wolverhampton who they face in Manchester in the morning before heading down to the Black Country the same evening.

Then, the Cool Running Colts are back in action at the National Speedway Stadium on Friday, August 31 for their rearranged fixture against the Kent Kings which was called off due to weather last week.

Tickets for both home meetings are now available online at www.bellevueaces.co and at the stadium box office on race night.
