Title Chase Commences!

A familiar face is set to return to the National Speedway Stadium when Belle Vue face King’s Lynn in leg one of their play off semi-final, as the Rentruck Aces target a big performance at home.

Jye Etheridge comes in at No.7 for the Mancunian stint deputising for the man who replaced him, Mark Riss, with his abundance of track knowledge and experience sure to bolster the side.

And injury victim Dan Bewley has also declared his intent to be there for his team, albeit on the side-lines, to offer help and encouragement in what will be their biggest meeting of the year.

The Tru Plant Stars are the only team to have defeated the Rentruck Aces on both occasions they have previously visited, a fact which has further motivated them to aim for the knock out.

But while they are resolute to take a lead into the second leg in Norfolk, club No.5 Craig Cook is refusing to throw random numbers around, stating: “Any lead we can get will be an advantage.

“King’s Lynn are a strong team and we’d hate to lose to them, especially at home and that’s another incentive for us to go all-out and turn them over. Third time’s a charm, as they say.

“We’ve strengthened up since we last raced them. Yes, we have felt the loss of Dan [Bewley] but we’ve been far from weak with R/R and I’m confident the lads can continue to cover for him.

“It’s a smart move by Lemo [Mark Lemon] to bring in Jye at reserve. He was always a strong rider at home and goes well around here, and I’m certain he’ll be fired up and have a point to prove.

“It’s going to be tough, there’s no two ways about it. But the boys are all up for this. We’re fully focused on the job we need to do. We know what’s at stake and we want to make that final.”

The slate is wiped clean as the play offs continue in Manchester this Monday, September 24 as Belle Vue prepare to meet King’s Lynn head on for the chance of a place in this year’s Grand Final.

Their fate, either way, will be sealed on October 1 when they travel to the Adrian Flux Arena for leg two, which will be run parallel to the south coast decider between Poole and Somerset.

Tickets for the home stint are available now at www.bellevueaces.co and at the stadium box office on race night.
