Belle Vue want to make the most of their visit to Swindon on September 27 and will take advantage of the extra laps ahead of their trip to King’s Lynn on Monday, October 1.
And it’s a big day for Cool Running Colts stalwart Kyle Bickley, who makes his first appearance in the club’s Premiership side deputising for Mark Riss after he called time on his season.
The first attempt at this fixture saw the Rentruck Aces dominating 25-11 after Heat 6 until inclement weather and deteriorating conditions put paid to any hope of declaring a result.
The postponement was of little consequence to Belle Vue, who were already secure in the top four, and the re-staging falling during their play-off campaign is a chance they cannot waste.
It could work to their advantage, says club No.3 Steve Worrall, as it affords his team extra time on the bike over their fellow Premiership title-contenders to keep themselves fresh and alert.
He said: “Things didn’t go to plan on Monday, so we need to take every chance we have to test a few things and get in some extra laps before we go to the Adrian Flux Arena next week.
“It’s not ideal having this fixture fall right in the middle of our play off semi-final but that doesn’t mean we’re not going to give 100 percent. We never aim for anything less than a win.
“We came on strong in the original staging and there’s no reason we can’t repeat that. Swindon want to finish their season on a high and we have a point to prove to everyone.”
The fate of both teams will be sealed on October 1 when they travel to the Adrian Flux Arena for leg two, which will be run parallel to the south coast decider between Poole and Somerset.
The club will host its annual end of season celebration ‘The Maugers’ on October 20 at the National Speedway Stadium. Ticket information coming soon.
