It’s all systems go for Belle Vue’s flagship event, the Peter Craven Memorial, on Saturday March 30 as the club celebrate the life, legacy and achievements of the legendary Peter Craven.
The 2019 field has attracted riders from all over the world, with no fewer than six nations represented throughout the sixteen-strong field that includes several international stars.
Completing the field is rising American star Broc Nicol with a late change to the field seeing Justin Sedgmen step in for Nick Morris, after the latter suffered a wrist injury in Poland last weekend.
Headlining the event are three of the current Belle Vue ‘Rentruck’ Aces: Kenneth Bjerre, Steve Worrall and Max Fricke, who are joined by ex-Aces riders Matej Zagar and Rory Schlein.
Add in 2017 world champion Jason Doyle among the favourites to emulate fellow countryman Jason Crump by becoming only the second Australian to claim a second victory in the event.
Complimenting the field is a host of young, yet experienced riders who are chomping at the bit to rub shoulders with the big boys, including British hopefuls Lewis Kerr and Kyle Howarth and German hotshot Erik Riss.
Director of Speedway Mark Lemon said: “It’s been an incredibly busy winter period and everyone is very excited to see the bikes roar back into action at the National Speedway Stadium at last.
“Peter Craven was, and still is, regarded as one of the greatest riders of all time and we have put together a competitive field worthy of his incredible life and talents, and we expect to see some great racing in his honour.”
A special inclusion to tomorrow night’s meeting will see a track return of Aces dynamo Dan Bewley, who will practice ahead of Belle Vue’s opening Supporters’ Cup fixture at Peterborough on Monday night.
Tickets for the 2019 Peter Craven Memorial are available online at www.bellevue-speedway.com or alternatively at the stadium box office on race night.
