The Perfect Ten

They couldn’t have opened their home campaign in finer style, but Belle Vue delivered and then some against Peterborough after triumphing 50-40 in Wednesday’s Premiership Supporters’ Cup in Manchester.

Not even former Rentruck Aces rider Rohan Tungate could inspire his side to respond to such a powerful performance, with skipper Max Fricke and Steve Worrall making the first waves in Heat 1.

Their opening 5-1 would bolster the teams’ confidence and set the tone for the remainder of the night as the Rentruck Aces continued to go from strength to strength with each race.

But the visitors had plenty of fight in them and kept up the pressure on the home side until another sensational heat advantage from Dan Bewley and Jaimon Lidsey in Heat 11 put them 10 points up.

It left the Panthers with plenty of work to do as the Rentruck Aces continued to dominate and made it two victories from their first two meetings, and skipper Fricke couldn’t hide his delight.

Max Fricke dominated the scoreboards once again for Belle Vue, dropping just one point from his five rides.

He said: “It was great to see all the boys on fire tonight. There were a couple of struggles but all in all it was a great meeting, the track was fantastic, and the result was just what we wanted.

“Fair play to Peterborough, they pushed us hard and raced really well. We’ve had two good meetings and to get a win both at home and away early doors has been great for our confidence

“To be honest, I don’t know what we expected from our first few outings given the amount of injuries some of our guys are coming back from, but it’s fair to say it’s been a brilliant start.

“The team is gelling so well. Everyone is working together, there was a great atmosphere in the pits and, hopefully, we can keep building on that and bring out the best in everyone as we go forward.”

Dan Bewley shocked the crowds with a massive 11-point haul in his first home meeting for seven months!
