Wimborne Wandering

Belle Vue’s extended Bank Holiday battle with Poole kicks off this Thursday, May 2 at Wimborne Road where the Rentruck Aces take on the reigning Premiership Champions for the first time.

And the pressure’s on for the Pirates to perform at home, after a disappointing loss to Swindon nearly two weeks ago in the Supporters’ Cup, to kick-start the defence of their hard-won title.

But the Rentruck Aces don’t plan to make life easy for their hosts, even without Dimitri Bergé who is competing in the rearranged SEC Qualifier in Ukraine. Coty Garcia will therefore guest at No.6.

The team are confident after successfully launching their Premiership campaign at home, picking up 3 vital points against Peterborough, and they hope to continue that momentum in Dorset.

Skipper Max Fricke said: “It was a fantastic night on Monday and to come away with a win after such a close meeting was very satisfying, and it was a good way for us to get our league form rolling.

“Hopefully we can take that form to Poole on Thursday. The Pirates have quite a bit to prove after losing their last home meeting so we can expect them to come out with all guns blazing.

“It’s unfortunate that Dimitri [Bergé] won’t be with us but I’m sure Coty Garcia will do a good job for us. We just need to keep our eye on the ball and hopefully we can come away with some points.”

There’s little time to relax after the action at Wimborne Road as the Pirates prepare to make their way to Manchester for the return fixture at the National Speedway Stadium on Monday, May 6.

Tapes go up at the earlier time of 12:00pm on the day, and tickets are available at the stadium on race day or secure yours today at www.bellevue-speedway.com.
