Fricke Warsaw-Bound

Polish racer Maciej Janowski has admitted defeat in his battle to make a track return in time for Saturday’s Boll Warsaw SGP as Max Fricke steps in.

The Wroclaw rider suffered shoulder ligament damage in a PGE Ekstraliga crash at Grudziadz on May 3 and underwent surgery five days later to have a plate inserted.

Despite holding out hope he may make it back in time for Poland’s biggest speedway event, Janowski confirmed on his official Instagram account that he needs longer to recover.

He posted: “With great sorrow, I inform you all that I will not take part in the Warsaw SGP. The rehabilitation process will take a bit more than I hoped for.”

With first reserve Robert Lambert already covering for Greg Hancock, second stand-in Max Fricke is next in line and replaces his Wroclaw team mate.

Tune into BT Sport 1 from 6:00pm tonight to watch live qualifying for tomorrow night’s Grand Prix action form Warsaw.
