It was mission accomplished for Belle Vue on Thursday night after they left a stunned King’s Lynn side well and truly in their tyre tracks with an emphatic 54-36 performance in Manchester.
The Rentruck Aces opened the meeting in flawless fashion, recording four consecutive 5-1s to establish a 16-point lead before the Poultec Stars could mount an effective assault.
Hammered by one heat advantage after another, there was little they could muster in response. Not even British champion and GB international Robert Lambert could inspire any kind of comeback.
Captain Max Fricke was the star man for Belle Vue as he surged to an unbeaten 15-point maximum, with Kenneth Bjerre recording 10+1 and Jaimon Lidsey following up with an impressive 8+1.
Fricke said: “King’s Lynn were a lot tougher than the scores would suggest. We started off really well but there was a slight déjà vu moment at the half-way point when they started clawing things back.
“We did pretty well to hold them off. It was great work by the whole team. We were solid and kept our heads down, and there was a lot of communication between the boys at every possible time.
“It’s vital that we continue to put away these kinds of results at home because not only do the fans expect it, but we expect it of ourselves and anything less than a win is not acceptable.
“I’m pleased with my own performance. It’s always nice to bag a maximum, particularly against a team like King’s Lynn. Hopefully the whole team can keep up this kind of form as we move forward.”
Action at the National Speedway Stadium continues this coming Monday, May 20 when the Swindon Robins descend on the National Speedway Stadium ready to accept the Rentruck Aces’ challenge.
