Worrall Targets British Final

The British Semi-Final is almost upon us and Belle Vue’s Steve Worrall has his eye on one of the spots on offer for the main event in Manchester on July 29 after a difficult meeting last year.

Rentruck Aces No.4 Worrall only just managed to take up his place in the 2018 British Final after 12 weeks on the side-lines following an horrific crash in which he suffered a badly broken leg.

He will face fifteen of his fellow countrymen at Redcar on Friday, May 31, but only six will qualify for this year’s grand finale at the National Speedway Stadium, along with the ten seeded riders.

Worrall said: “Riding in the 2018 British Final gave me something to aim for after the accident. It didn’t end how I was hoping it would, but it helped bring back and build my confidence.

“It’s a strong line-up in this year’s semi-final. Looking at the field, there are so many guys who are more than capable of making the cut so I think we can expect a very close, competitive meeting.

“The British Final is a meeting we all want to be in. Qualifying is one of my main aims for the season and no doubt a lot of the other boys share that goal. There’s a lot on the line for everyone.

“I believe I have what it takes to make it through. Redcar is a track I really enjoy riding and I’m prepared to give it everything I have and prove to myself how far I’ve come since last year.”

Ticket information for the 2019 British Final will be posted on Belle Vue’s official website, www.bellevue-speedway.com, in due course.
