It’s brother versus brother, Worrall versus Worrall when reigning Premiership Champions Poole descend on Manchester this Bank Holiday Monday, May 6 so expect nothing less than one feisty encounter!
The Pirates hold bragging over the Rentruck Aces, who are hanging onto 5th in the table, after a dominant performance at Wimborne Road ended with the men from Manchester trailing behind by 20 points.
But with a solid home record under their belt, and the sting of defeat still fresh in their mind, the Belle Vue boys have all the motivation and ammunition they need to muster a big response at home.
They launched their Premiership campaign at the National Speedway Stadium in fine style with a win over the Peterborough Panthers last Monday, a performance they hope to mirror against the Pirates.
Team boss Mark Lemon said: “It was a disappointing night at Wimborne Road, but that’s the way things go sometimes. This is a competitive league, certainly this year, but that’s water under the bridge now.
“We don’t expect anything less from the Pirates than what they hit us with last week, but in the same breath we’re well prepared for them at the NSS and I’m confident we can deliver a big performance.
“There’s still a long way to go and plenty of points to be had, and we certainly can’t afford to be dropping points at home. But the boys understand the position and are fully aware of what they need to do.”
Tapes go up at the earlier time of 12:00pm on May 6 when the Rentruck Aces face Poole at the National Speedway Stadium. Tickets available at the stadium on the day, and at www.bellevue-speedway.com.
