Two significant fixtures for both Belle Vue teams means a busy Monday, June 24 for the club as the Rentruck Aces journey to King’s Lynn while the Cool Running Colts travel to Sittingbourne in Kent.
It’s the first of two Premiership fixtures this week for the top flight team, who are targeting big results as they hope to stay on track in the league table, where they continue to grasp onto top spot.
But with Ipswich close behind, the Rentruck Aces will need more than just a consolation point at the Adrian Flux Arena to keep the pressure on their rivals and maintain their top-four position.
Calling on his side to respond strongly to their defeat at Swindon last week, team boss Mark Lemon said: “It was a difficult night at the Abbey, but that’s now as far from our minds as it can possibly be.
“The next two meetings for us are absolutely critical to our Premiership campaign. We need a favourable result in each in order to keep the pressure on other clubs and reinforce our position.
“King’s Lynn have something to prove on Monday. They haven’t had the best start to the season, but they have some strong riders and we will treat them will no less respect than anyone else.”
Meanwhile, the Cool Running Colts take a 12-point lead into the second leg of their KOC quarter final clash with Kent after dominating the home leg at the National Speedway Stadium last week.
A triumphant debut for Connor Bailey couple with a solid performance throughout the team meant they established themselves early doors and kept the pressure on the visitors from start to finish.
Now, they’re hopeful of maintaining their lead at Sittingbourne but club No.2 Danny Phillips knows it will not be easy, adding: “The last time we went there we got beat by 13 points so it’s a tough one.
“But we’ll know what to expect now in terms of setup and track behaviours. The boys rode really well on Thursday, so we’ve given ourselves a fighting chance of making the cut for the semi-finals.
“As long as we don’t get any last places and everyone scores at minimum their average, we should be able to defend that lead. We’re confident we can, so we’ve just got to put it into practice.”
The Rentruck Aces return home to the National Speedway Stadium on Monday, July 1 for their second home encounter with the Poole Pirates after journeying to Wimborne Road on June 27.
Tickets for the home meeting are available at the stadium box office on race night, or online at www.bellevue-speedway.com.
