The Belle Vue ‘Cool Running’ Colts had every reason to be happy, despite just missing out on the win at Kent after they took a hard-earned league point from their 47-43 defeat at Sittingbourne.
It brings their tally up to 16 points from eight matches, and they still have the benefit of matches in hand which puts them in a highly advantageous position as the play offs close in.
Mechanical gremlins crept into the visitors’ pits on a couple of occasions, but the sheer determination of the Cool Running Colts overshadowed them as they soldiered on regardless.
Leon Flint led the way for his side with a superb 12 points while fearless 15-year old Jordan Palin complimented him with 9+2 and the skipper Kyle Bickley added 7 points.
Team boss Steve Williams said: “The boys can be very proud of themselves for that performance. There were a few bike issues for some of the lads, but they sorted things out and pushed on.
“Everyone pulled together when it counted. The team effort was stupendous and to get a point at Kent is no easy task, and we’re delighted with the way they conducted themselves. They earned it.
“You’re always hopeful of achieving your minimum goal and Kent have some very strong riders, so this is a major positive for us. It’s a great boost of confidence and we hope to carry this forward.”
The Cool Running Colts return to action on Tuesday, August 20 when head to the Isle of Wight before the Rentruck Aces welcome King’s Lynn to Manchester on Bank Holiday Monday, August 26.
Tapes up at the earlier time of 12:00pm. Tickets available at the stadium box office on race day, or online at www.bellevue-speedway.com.
