Seeing Stars

The first of two crucial Premiership fixtures against King’s Lynn takes Belle Vue to Norfolk on Thursday, August 22 where nothing less than a point at minimum will suffice from their efforts.

The Rentruck Aces were left feeling frustrated after their home loss to Wolverhampton earlier this week, and club bosses want to see that frustration channelled into a big performance.

They currently sit third in the league table but with only 11 points separating the top six, there is little room for error as the September deadline for the 2019 Play Offs continues to draw closer.

Berwick’s Kevin Doolan, who was pit side for the Rentruck Aces guest Jye Etheridge on Monday, will come in for the injured Nikolaj B. Jakobsen who remains out with a dislocated shoulder.

The Poultec Stars also track a couple of guests due to their own injury woes, with Rory Schlein stepping in for the injured Robert Lambert and Tero Aarnio deputising for Nicklas Porsing.

Steve Worrall says his side must channel their recent frustrations into a big performance at King’s Lynn

Aces No.2 Steve Worrall said: “Monday’s loss was a massive disappointment, but I think, certainly from my perspective, that it will serve as massive motivation when we go to King’s Lynn.

“Away points are so important, but this meeting could make or break our ambitions for the play offs. Things are so close so we need to be on point otherwise we could find ourselves being overtaken.

“King’s Lynn are strong at home, but they’ve got key riders missing and that’s an opportunity we can’t afford to waste. We aren’t counting ourselves out of this yet, we believe we can still do this.”

The Rentruck Aces welcome King’s Lynn back to Manchester this coming bank holiday Monday, August 26 for their penultimate home meeting before the Play Offs kick off in September.
