Belle Vue Speedway bosses have recalled Jye Etheridge to the Rentruck Aces on a 28-day contract to cover for the injured Nikolaj Busk Jakobsen as they make one final push to secure their place in the play offs.
The 24-year old Australian was a member of the club’s Premiership team last season, and certainly made a case for himself as a guest during last week’s home defeat to Wolverhampton.
Now Director of Speedway Mark Lemon is determined to bolster his side for their final gambit as they prepare to meet King’s Lynn at the National Speedway Stadium on Bank Holiday Monday.
He said: “The deadline for the play offs is looming large and while we’ve still got a chance to fight for our spot.
“That’s exactly what we’ll be doing, and with the injury that Nikolaj has suffered, I feel Jye is the man who can complete this team.
“Nikolaj was in brilliant form before his unfortunate accident but we aren’t sure as to how long he will be out for, and at this stage of the campaign we can’t afford to rely on guests to fill the voids.
“We can only hope his recovery is a speedy one, but Jye was exceptional on Monday against Wolverhampton and we’re delighted to welcome him back to Belle Vue at this crucial time.
“He’s got confidence around Belle Vue and he’s had the benefit of having been to Peterborough before now so I firmly believe he will do the job we need him to do and he’ll do it very well.”
The Rentruck Aces welcome King’s Lynn back to Manchester this coming bank holiday Monday, August 26 for their penultimate home meeting before the Play Offs kick off in September.
Tickets are available at the stadium box office on race day, or online at www.bellevue-speedway.com.
