To The Max!

Belle Vue’s Premiership title pursuit has been boosted on the eve of their Bank Holiday clash with King’s Lynn by the news that Rentruck Aces skipper Max Fricke will return to lead his side.

Fricke has been side-lined due to injury for the past week but returned to action on Saturday to compete in the Grand Prix Challenge in which he successfully qualified as a 2020 GP rider.

On his victory, he said: “I’m super excited. It has always been a goal of mine to be in the Grand Prix series as a full-time rider. When I was a kid and I first started watching speedway, it was the GPs.

“So, it’s pretty awesome to see myself in it for next year. Hopefully I can get some stuff together during the off-season and put together a strong outfit for next year.”

Max Fricke successfully booked his place in the 2020 GP Series at the weekend.

The Rentruck Aces track a full-strength side against the pursuing Poultec Stars, who also see the return of Robert Lambert to their septet, as well as the inclusion of former Aces rider Craig Cook.

The home team are hanging on to fourth spot in the Premiership table, and a win would bolster their position while also dealing a major blow to their rivals’ efforts; who currently sit in sixth.

Team boss Mark lemon wants a rapid response from his side after last week’s home loss to Wolverhampton, stating: “This is probably the most crucial meeting we’ve had all season.

“Meetings are starting to run out, so we’ve got to make the most of the time we’ve got to give ourselves the best chance of making the play offs, and the boys want that more than anything.

“King’s Lynn will fancy their chances after last week, but with Max back in the team and Jye Etheridge coming back to us at reserve I think they’ll find a much bigger challenge this time.

“I have faith the boys can rise above the disappointments of last week and come up with the goods. Then, we need to replicate our previous performance at Peterborough to hopefully seal the deal.”

The Rentruck Aces welcome King’s Lynn back to the National Speedway Stadium on August 26 for their final home league meeting before the all-important Play Offs kick off in September.
