Cradley 'Ommered

The Belle Vue 'Cool Running' Colts have sent out a message to their National League rivals after thumping Cradley 65-25 in one of their most comprehensive victories in Manchester this year.

The release of the new averages saw another shuffle of the home team’s riding order, a re-shuffle which put certain riders back into their natural hunting grounds and solidified the side.

And they were clicking right from the word go as they put massive distance between themselves and the Heathens, with the hosts a staggering 20 points in front after seven big races.

Not even the powerhouse duo of Jack Smith and Max Clegg could inspire a late comeback for their team as the Cool Running Colts ran amok, with both Jordan Palin and Kyle Bickley maximum men.

Palin said: “It was hard work in Heat 15 to have to get around both Max and Jack, but I put my head down and got stuck in and I managed to pull it off so I was really happy to finish the night like that.

“The scores don’t reflect the quality of the racing. Cradley are a strong team and we were expecting a tough night. They were really pushing but things went against them and they had a bit of bad luck.

“It was a class feeling to get the bumps. It’s been a while since I’ve had a maximum so now I’ve done that in the main body of the team it’s a huge accomplishment for me, and definitely progress.

“For us, getting the points was a must. The end goal is to finish the season in the top four and aim for that league title. We’ve still got some tough matches ahead but we’re all ready to tackle them.”

The Cool Running Colts head to Mildenhall this Monday, September 2 before meeting the Fen Tigers at the National Speedway Stadium 24 hours later for another crucial clash in Manchester.

Then on September 12, silverware is on the line for the Rentruck Aces when they face the Swindon Robins at home in the first leg of the 2019 Premiership Supporters' Cup Final.

Tickets for both home meetings are available at the stadium box office on race night, or online at
