Belle Vue top gun Max Fricke has been drafted in for the Scandinavian FIM Speedway Grand Prix in Malilla on August 17.
SGP second reserve Fricke steps in for the absent Greg Hancock, who remains in his native California to care for wife Jennie as she undergoes breast cancer treatment.
With first reserve Robert Lambert unavailable to take the four-time world champion’s place due to a back injury, Fricke steps up as next in line.
Fricke has appeared in four of this year’s five rounds and is currently 12th in the World Championship.
Currently on 31 points, he is just five short of the top eight despite racing one round less than many of the riders ahead of him.
The Rospiggarna man reached his first ever FIM Speedway Grand Prix final at the Norrbil Swedish SGP in Hallstavik on July 6, finishing fourth, and will hope for another big night on Swedish shale.
