Pride of the North

The Belle Vue Colts are looking to bounce back after suffering the narrowest of National League defeats to Kent last week, and team bosses are hoping for a big response against Leicester.

The Cool Running Colts remain in the hunt for the top four despite that hiccup, and a win would see them back into play off territory; and they still have a clutch of fixtures in hand over their rivals.

The Leicester Cubs have called on the expertise of Joe Lawlor and Anders Rowe to guest in place of Joe Thomson and Ellis Perks, while they will operate R/R at No.2 for the injured Luke Ruddick.

The visitors are somewhat comfortable at the top of the table, but there is extra incentive for the home team to succeed by reversing the loss suffered in their trip to Beaumont Park earlier this year.

Team boss Steve Williams said: “It was far from a shameful performance against Kent from our boys, they were a credit to the club. But when you’ve had a loss you always hope to get a strong response.

“Leicester are a strong team, so we need to be on point. They do have a few riders missing but they have some good guests, so we need to exercise caution and make sure we make a strong start.

“But we’re by no means doubting our ability to the win. Our boys can match them heat for heat and they’ve proved their strength their home. We just need to make sure we keep it up.”

The Rentruck Aces are on the hunt for consistency, and precious league points, when they face Swindon next Monday, August 12 at the National Speedway Stadium.

Tickets for both home fixtures are available at the stadium box office on race night, or online at www.bellevue-speedway.com.
