Aces Finish In Style

The Belle Vue Aces bowed out of their 2019 home campaign with a stylish 49-41 win over Swindon, giving them a vital 8-point lead in the Premiership Supporters Cup ahead of leg two next week.

It was not an easy start to the evening for the Rentruck Aces after the late loss of Kenneth Bjerre following a track crash in Denmark the previous day, with the added frustration of unscheduled rain.

But the home team overcame those challenges and after breaking the tight deadlock that gripped the first handful of heats, they managed to pull off some spectacular manoeuvres to take the lead.

And once the ball was in their court, there was no looking back for the Rentruck Aces as they went from strength to strength and accumulated a decent cushion at the halfway point of the final.

Skipper Max Fricke said: “It’s nice to see that we have a good lead going down to Swindon. Hopefully it’s enough. They are a strong team, especially on their home track and they have been all year.

“Unfortunately, missing Kenneth was a big blow because he is a huge presence here in Manchester and a good guy to have in the pits, but we overcame his absence and still claimed the win.

“Everyone worked hard, they got their heads down and just got on with it. Our main goal now is to maintain the lead we’ve built at the Abbey Stadium and, hopefully, bring that trophy home.”

The Cool Running Colts now take control of the National Speedway Stadium as they look forward to their KOC semi-final against the Cradley Heathens next Wednesday, September 18.

And their spot in the National League Play Offs is all but confirmed as they wait to find out the remaining three qualifying teams each vying for the 2019 league title.

Tickets for their home meeting are now available online at, or at the stadiuym box office on race night.
