It was a job well done for the Belle Vue Colts at Plymouth as they secured not only a massive 38-52 win and four league points, but also sealed their position in second place in the league table.
Even without Kyle Bickley and Connor Bailey, the Cool Running Colts were in dominant form and made good on their promise to complete their domestic league fixtures with a bang.
Just one point was all that was required to ensure they finished second in the league, but team boss Steve Williams says that his side wanted to deliver more than that for their final league meeting.
He said: “We told the lads that all we needed was one point to go second, but their view was that they’d not come all this way not to win so they absolutely went for it and got a brilliant result.
“We honestly didn’t expect such a massive win. These boys are capable of beating anyone, anywhere on their day but this was quite something special and we couldn’t be prouder of them.
“Everyone was in the points. Drew Kemp, guesting, battled like a trooper and it was an all-round solid performance from the rest; and it was particularly great to see the two Bens scoring so well.
“It feels like we’re hitting form at just the right time. This is our fifth win on the bounce, and our third consecutive away win, and it sets us up nicely now for the KOC and, of course, the Play Offs.
The Cool Running Colts take control of the National Speedway Stadium as they look forward to their KOC semi-final against the Cradley Heathens next Wednesday, September 18.
And their spot in the National League Play Offs is now consolidated as they wait to find out the remaining three qualifying teams each vying for the 2019 league title.
Tickets for their home meeting are now available online at www.bellevue-speedway.com, or at the stadium box office on race night.
