Colts Close In On Play Off Place

It was a jubilant night for the Belle Vue Colts as they put one foot in the 2019 National League Play Offs with a massive 64-25 win over Mildenhall, just 24 hours after their victory at West Row.

The rain couldn’t dampen the spirit of the Cool Running Colts, who were men on a mission at the National Speedway Stadium and set the tone for the evening with the first of many 5-1s in Heat 1.

The home team recorded at least one race win per rider and were all but untouchable as they charged to a full league point haul that all but ensures they can’t be knocked out of the top four.

Three Colts finished their evening as maximum men, with Kyle Bickley, Jordan Palin and Leon Flint unbeaten by an opposing rider, and Connor Bailey just missing out on his first maximum by 3 points.

Flint said: “That first 5-1 worked wonders for team morale. It really gave us a boost to start things off. Conditions weren’t as they normally are, but we made it work and the boys got a great result.

“We’ve been quite busy the last couple of weeks and it’s kept us on our toes, and the whole team has been in top form. We knew the crack with this meeting and that we had to get the win.

“I think Mildenhall were just caught out by the rain. They are a good side but we were the stronger on the night and I don’t see why we can’t carry this through into the play offs and the KOC.”

Silverware is on the line for the Rentruck Aces when they face the Swindon Robins at home in the first leg of the hotly anticipated 2019 Premiership Supporters' Cup Final on September 12.

Tickets for both home meetings are available at the stadium box office on race night, or online at www.bellevue-speedway.com.
